She opened the freezer and began rummaging through cartons of ice cream and boxes of frozen dinners in search of some ice. There wasn't any. What she did find, however, was a frozen steak, a turkey, and one of her grandma's carpet slippers. She held up the carpet slipper and sighed. Her grandma was forgetting lots of things these days, like the fact that slippers go on feet, not in freezers. She tossed the slipper aside and turned her attention to the turkey and the steak. After a moments consideration, she put the turkey back in the freezer and the steak on her swollen ankle. She sighed with relief as the pain numbed, but when she lifted it off her ankle didn't look any better, just purple-er. She soaked a towel in warm water and put it on her forehead. She then pulled out her cell phone, intending to give Sam a lot of grief for the pain she had caused. She angrily punched in the numbers, but was too preoccupied to notice that she hit a few of the wrong numbers by mistake. The phone rang a few times before somebody picked up. "Hello?" The voice was obviously male. Leslie's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, I'm sorry, I got the wrong number, I guess," she apologized. "It's okay. I'm bored, anyway. So, how are you?" he asked, and he did sound rather bored, so Leslie thought she'd talk to him for a while. "Bad. I just hit my head on a table, and then I fell down the stairs. I think I sprained my ankle." He laughed. "You remind me of my older brother, he's always hurting himself, too. You should put some ice on that ankle, though," he suggested, his voice turning serious. "I couldn't find any. I looked in the freezer but all I found was a frozen steak, a turkey, and one of my grandma's carpet slippers,"she answered. "What was one of your grandma's carpet slippers doing in the freezer?" he inquired. There was an awkward silence. "Don't ask." He laughed. "I didn't catch your name, by the way," he asked. "I'm Leslie," said Leslie. "Nice name. I'm Ni... I mean, Nate. I'm Nate."At least 6 comments please. Tell me if u like it cuz if you don't I'll just write one of my other stories instead.
