Issued in Canada September 1979 on Capitol 72813.Private Eye was founded in 1979 by Hugh Leggat, former bassist with A Foot In Coldwater. For this band, he switched to guitar and lead vocals. Joining him were his brother Gord Leggat (guitars), Howard Warden (bass) and Paul "Boomer" Stamp (drums, vocals). They made just one self-titled album for Capitol. "Your Place Or Mine" entered the RPM 100 on September 29, 1979 and reached #56 on November 24th, after which it took a spectacular nosedive off the charts. Too bad, because it's a great record! Backup vocalists on this recording are Shawne Jackson, Colina Phillips and Tracy Richardson. One further single from the album didn't do quite as well. Gord Leggat issued a self-titled album in 1981, and then the brothers put together Leggat, with Danny Taylor, and released a double album called "Illuminations" in 1982.To hear this record in stereo, type the following code - &fmt=18 - on the end of the URL and hit Enter to reload the page.

Jul 20, 2008 - Man oh man, another song I completely forgot. I never knew who did this, I used to think it was Doucette or Eddy Schwartz or someone like that. Hughie and Gordy Leggatt, are those Canadian names or what?

Aug 9, 2008 - I remember the neat radio promo they did for this record - a girl wants to hire them to catch her cheating boyfriend, and they tell her they're just a band called "Private Eye". She offers them $250, & they say "Who do you want us to watch?"
