*normal POV*As Nick drove away, and Joni stepped into Stephanie's house, all the sadness came back to her. She remembered all the nights she stayed over after her parents and she had a fight. She started balling her eyes out. Stephanie came up and gave her a big bear hug. Then, they walked into the kitchen and grabbed their secret stash of skittles and chocolate ice cream. They went down to Stephanie's finished basement. Joni sat glumly on the couch and opened the ice cream. Stephanie walked over to the closet and pulled out their two favorite blankets. Then Stephanie sat down as well and ate some skittles. She looked over at Joni and saw the bruise on her arm. She couldn't stand to see her friend like this any longer, she thought to herself, "I should say something, I NEED to speak up." Then she put down the skittles and took the ice cream from Joni. She faced her and took a deep breath.*Stephanie's point of view*I looked over at Joni's face and tear stained cheeks. She was a bit confused, I could tell. Usually when she came over after a fight at home, we would just watch TV, eat, and avoid the subject at all cost. But tonight was different. It was one time too many. Joni went to Audrey's sometimes too. I looked at her bruise and thought, if I don't help her now, that bruise can turn into something worse. I know she didn't want to hear it, but she was going to. "Joni, I know you don't want to hear this-""So don't tell me!" she yelled. She knew what I was going to say, and she didn't want to hear it. But I didn't care. She needed to hear this."Joni I care about you just like a sister, and I can NOT let this keep happening." I too was about to break out in tears. "There's nothing you can do." She started to get up but I grabbed her arms making sure she couldn't get up. "Yes Joni! I can do something! I don't want you to get hurt anymore!" Then the tears started to roll down my cheeks. She stopped struggling and just sank into the couch. We both got up and I engulfed her in a big hug. Then she started crying twice as hard."I don't kn-know what to d-do!" she tried to say through her tears."I'm so sorry this has to be you Joni! I'm so sorry!""I c-cant go back!""You don't have to." She let go and just stared at me in confusion. Now... now is the time."W-what?" she asked."I think we should report your parents." I said it so quietly it was almost a whisper. She heard it anyway."I...I...I can't." Then she calmly walked up the stairs, and left my house.*Ch. 1 started right when they got home from school, this is going on at the same time with different people.**Audrey's POV*I stood outside of Room 102 with some other parents and such that were waiting to pick up their children. I was here to pick up my 8 year old sister, Lane. It was her first day of 2nd grade. As they walked out, I saw Lane walk out talking with another little boy. They were giggling and she was blushing. AWW! How cute is that?! I smiled to myself and walked up to them. I gave Lane a hug hello.
